Why
Join Us? / He aha koe e hono mai?
Lotto New
Zealand has a rare opportunity for an experienced Business Analyst to join our
Transformation and Technology team on a 6‑month
fixed‑term contract. Reporting to the Business
Analysis Manager, you’ll play a meaningful role across a busy transformation
programme - supporting a busy programme of work across our Retail Systems
product backlog. This includes enhancements
to our retail systems and CRM, integrating with platforms that feed into our
upgraded core gaming engine, and identifying opportunities to streamline and
automate business processes across retail operations.
You’ll help
shape and deliver business change from discovery through to implementation.
This includes eliciting and analysing requirements, supporting product
backlogs, mapping business processes, working with technical teams on
integrations, and helping ensure solutions are adopted successfully across the
organisation.
The team is
currently working on exciting initiatives that include enhancing our retail
systems and improving our retail operations through innovative technology. Your
role is key to identifying opportunities, shaping solutions, and ensuring
successful delivery, from discovery to implementation.
This is a rewarding role where your work directly supports improvements for our retailers, internal stakeholders, and ultimately communities across Aotearoa.
Your
day-to-day / Āu mahi ia te rā:
- Elicit, capture, analyse, and document clear business requirements (functional and non-functional) across a range of initiatives.
- Assess the impact of business change, identify gaps, propose solutions, and translate requirements for delivery teams.
- Produce and maintain business process documentation using standard modelling methods (e.g., BPMN).
- Support stakeholders and hybrid delivery, including writing user stories, backlog refinement, and sprint planning activities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Technology, Retail Operations, the Retail Systems Product Owner, and external vendors contributing to established BA practice and ways of working.
- Contribute to integration‑focused analysis, including data insights, API considerations, and system interoperability.
- Identify opportunities to automate manual or repetitive processes, supporting an “automation‑first” approach.
- Support testing, end‑user training, release preparation, and post‑go‑live activities to ensure solutions land effectively.
- Communicate openly and proactively across technical and business stakeholders to ensure alignment throughout delivery.
Your team / Tō rōpū:
You’ll be part
of the EPMO team within Lotto NZ’s Transformation & Technology division and
work alongside the Retail Systems Product Owner and the Retail Operations team.
You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver smarter, faster, and
more efficient solutions.
The team is
passionate about modernising systems and processes, improving the experience
for retailers and customers, and enabling smarter, more efficient ways of
working.
You’ll work closely with Senior BAs, the Business Analysis Manager, and product and operations teams who share a drive for continuous improvement and high‑quality delivery.
A bit about you / He kōrero mōu:
- Minimum 3 years' experience as a Business Analyst or similar role.
- This role is specific to business analysis and change delivery, not financial analysis, data science, or BI reporting.
- Solid understanding of BA methodologies and practices in complex IT and business change projects.
- Strong skills in requirements gathering, analysis, and process modelling.
- Experience working with retail systems, CRM, SAP, or other ERP systems, and integration‑driven initiatives.
- Familiarity with agile and hybrid delivery environments.
- Ability to communicate clearly with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Experience using SharePoint, JIRA, Confluence, and process‑modelling tools (Visio, ARIS etc.).
- Technical business analysis experience (data modelling, APIs, system integration) is highly desirable.
- Flexible, curious, and able to adapt to evolving priorities - whether supporting project management, change, QA, or product activities when needed.
