Your day-to-day:
As a Systems Administrator, you'll play a key role in the maintenance of our production, QA, and development environments, ensuring they are always available, performant, and up to date. Your day will start with monitoring and maintaining the size of our production environments to meet business needs, ensuring they are backed up according to Lotto NZ's BCP guidelines. You'll work closely with the Environment team, Development, testing, and release capabilities, as well as external partners to ensure our environments are fit for purpose and highly available.
You'll be ago-to expert for supporting Lotto NZ’s public cloud tenancies, adhering to and maintaining our stringent security standards. Incident management will be a crucial part of your role, where you'll ensure all incidents are managed and escalated as per Lotto NZ's incident management process. You'll also play a key role in continuous delivery, maintaining security, reliability, performance, and integrity standards for all deployments and environments.
Collaboration and communication are at the heart of this role. You'll work with Platform Engineers, development, and QA teams to ensure alignment of processes and toolsets, facilitating knowledge sharing across teams. You'll assist in capturing operations requirements in both functional and non-functional requirements and other design documents, contributing to a continuous improvement plan that underpins our technology roadmap.
Your proactive approach will drive continuous improvement, as you'll monitor, manage, and patch all environments, using appropriate tools and processes to enhance availability, management processes, and the speed of releases. You'll test all environment changes in the test environments before releasing them into production, ensuring that we can support new changes as they arrive. Additionally, you'll document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensure they are regularly reviewed and updated to reflect best practices.

You're passionate about learning and improvement, always staying up to date with emerging technologies. Your proactive approach to continuous improvement drives you to identify opportunities to enhance development tooling, frameworks, and approaches. You have a thorough knowledge of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and how it relates to the ongoing maintenance and security of web and mobile applications.
